Back in October we wrote about how Warner Bros. was interested in making a “Beetlejuice” sequel and bringing back Michael Keaton to reprise his role as the Ghost with the Most. But who knew how committed the studios was!? In a recent interview with “Beetlejuice” writer Seth Grahame-Smith, author of “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” which was adapted into a film, Grahame-Smith revealed how everyone is extremely excited about the project including Tim Burton, who directed the 1988 classic, and actor Michael Keaton.
Here’s what Grahame-Smith had to say in his interview with STYD:
We talked for a couple of hours and talked about big picture stuff. It’s a priority for Warner Bros. It’s a priority for Tim.
Continuing, he mentions how Keaton is excited and keen on doing a “Beetlejuice sequel.
…Huge, he’s been wanting to do it for 20 years and he’ll talk to anybody about it who will listen. I really told him, I have a huge reverence for Tim and a huge reverence for that film in general. I don’t think we should do it if we shit on the legacy. He agrees. So, right now, it remains to be seen, I have a couple of story ideas, but we’re very early out.
Personally, I cannot image a new “Beetlejuice” movie without Keaton and would absolutely love it he could return to reprise his role. I’m not even sure what Keaton’s been doing, but whatever he’s doing, he need to come back and be wacky geeky leading man he once was.
