Directing a film was always part of Ben Affleck’s plan when he signed on to play Batman in the DCEU. As you can see, those plans went about as well as the DCEU. We’re looking at a clean slate for the future with James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over as the guiding force behind all DC films at Warner Bros, but that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of Affleck.
In the same way that Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman is dead after the release of Aquaman 2, but he’ll most likely be back as Lobo in future films, it looks like Ben Affleck has found a way to keep working with the DC. The Argo director is still keen to direct at comic book movie and he’s already chatted with Gunn about making it happen. Gunn has even taken to Twitter to confirm:
