After several failed attempts to make the movie and at least one failed pilot to turn the franchise into a TV series, Beverly Hills Cop 4 is back on, though we still aren’t exactly sure why.
Deadline is reporting that Jerry bruckheimer just set a deal with Paramount for a new first look deal that begins next April. This gives him a new home after he and Disney parted ways earlier this year.
The first project he plans on bringing to Paramount is a new Beverly Hills Cop film. We say reboot loosely, because Eddie Murphy will be back as Axel Foley, so it is really more of a sequel. In the new film, Foley will be leaving Beverly Hills and returning to his home town of Detroit to solve a crime. Brett Ratner is already attached to direct.
Beverly Hills Cop isn’t the only piece of nostalgia that he’ll be bringing to the table. The deal also includes, the currently under development, Top Gun 2, which already has Tom Cruise set as the star… If you really want to impress me, see if you can get Kelly Mcgillis!
