There are plenty of movies that focus on the humans fending off an incoming alien invasion, but the interesting stories are the ones that the world after it has already happened. Aside from Captive State, the best example is probably the USA series Colony.
This new take on the story comes to us from writer/director Rupert Wyatt, who was responsible for relaunching the Planet of the Apes series a few years back. In the new film, we’ll zoom into one Chicago neighborhood and explore the life and struggles of the collaborators as well as those who are fighting their alien oppressors.
The film stars John Goodman, Vera Farmiga, Ashton Sanders, Jonathan Majors and Colson Baker, and arrives in theaters on March 29, 2019.
“Set in a Chicago neighborhood nearly a decade after an occupation by an extra-terrestrial force, “Captive State” explores the lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents.”
