If you haven’t caught the excellent, but all too short first season of Adi Shankar’s Castlevania on Netflix, you have until October 26, 2018 to catch up. That’s when season 2 hits the streaming network. The show is considered by many critics to be the best adaptation of a video game to film or TV thus far. The dark and bloody anime-style cartoon comes from Adi Shankar, the man behind the Bootleg Universe films and movies like The Grey, and the under-appreciated “The Voices” starring Ryan Reynolds.
Season 1 of Castlevania is up there with some of the other animated series currently being produced by network (troll Hunters, Voltron Legendary Defender) as some of the best-animated programming out there at the moment, period.
Returning to Netflix for a second season, Castlevania, inspired by the classic video game series, is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepes himself. Trevor Belmont, last survivor of his house, is no longer alone, and he and his misfit comrades race to find a way to save humanity from extinction at the hands of the grief-maddened Dracula and his sinister vampire war council.
