This is shaping up to be the ass kickingest musical adaptation of the Victor Hugo classic about love and loss in the French Revolution to date! We already knew that Hugh Jackman would be taking on the role of Jean val Jean and that Russel Crowe would be playing Inspector Javert. Now it is being confirmed that Anne Hathaway will be playing the role of Fantine.
We all know that Jackman can sing. He’s the singingest X-Man that you’ll see (aside from Kelsey Grammer… and alan Cumming). And, Crowe is equal parts musician and actor as he tours from time to time with his band 30 Odd Foot of grunts. Hathaway will be bringing some pretty impressive pipes to the party as well. Check out a clip of her singing as Little Red Riding Hood in the still underrated animated film, ‘Hoodwinked’.
The new series is set for a two-episode premiere, June 4 on Disney+.
