CBS Adapting ‘Source Code’ For Television

The much buzzed about Duncan Jones directed sci-fi film “Source Code” is apparently being developed into a TV series for CBS. Producer Mark Gordon will spearhead the project.

Penned by Gordon (Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds) and Steve Maeda (Lie to Me, Lost), the series will be similar to the 2011 film starring Jake Gyllenhaal, with the action/procedural following the three former federal agents who are part of a top-secret program. Each week, they will use the “Source Code” technology to jump into the consciousness of people involved in the tragic events.

There’s no word whether this will be a stand alone series or if it’d have connect with the film.

While I wasn’t a huge “Source Code” fan, it does have a fantastic concept that I can see working well as a series. There’s almost unlimited possibility and if it pans out, we could potentially have a new sci-fi series on hand so what’s not to be excited about? Hopefully it goes in a direction more akin to greats such as “Quantum Leap” and less in the direction of the mediocr-ish “The Human Target.”
