Michael Jackson died in June of 2009, but now he’s back… as the pumpkin king? No really. CBS is pushing out an animated Michael Jackson Halloween Special, and the trailer makes as little sense as the official synopsis does. I’m not even sure if they had the likeness rights to show Jackson’s face in the special, as his head has been replaced by a pumpkin.
Weirder still is the list of voices they have attached to the special: Jim Parsons, Christine Baranski, Alan Cumming, Brad Garrett, George Eads, Lucas Till, Lucy Liu, and Kiersey Clemons. The only thing that makes sense there is that pretty much everyone on this list is currently or has recently been employed by CBS. I’ve got a feeling that people are going to watch this more out of curiosity than because they expect it to be good.
Millennials Vincent (Lucas Till) and Victoria (Kiersey Clemons) meet “accidentally” on Halloween night and find themselves, along with Ichabod the dog, at a mysterious hotel located at 777 Jackson Street called This Place Hotel. Once inside, Vincent and Victoria are sent on an unexpected, magical adventure of personal discovery, culminating in a spectacular dance finale featuring an animated Michael Jackson.
