Chris Evans Extends His Marvel/ Captain America Contract

I guess we know one hero who won’t be biting the dust in the upcoming Infinity War. It’s now being reported that Evans, who’s contract as Steve Rogers/ Captain America was slated to end after the upcoming Avengers Sequel has signed on to continue for at least one more film. In a new interview with the UK’s Telegraph, he had this to say:

“I had six films in my Marvel contract, so I could have said after the third Avengers I was done, but they wanted to make the third and fourth Avengers films as a two-parter. They said they had so many other characters to fit in – Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Ant Man – and couldn’t get them all into one movie. [I agreed] because it made sense. It’s going to wrap everything up.”

Ad far as the impact that the role of Captain America has had in his life, Evans had this to say:

“For the past six years there’s always been ‘Next year, we start that one,’ and it’s been wonderful, especially because the movies are so good. When you make good movies, who wants to stop doing that? So I don’t know, we’ll see. I know in the comics that the shield does get passed off, and what you do know, more than anything else in this process, in meeting fans and experiencing these junkets, and people who love the character – the character is bigger than you, and whatever the character needs, whatever Marvel needs for that arc, I’m willing to do. So if that is me passing it off, I’ll pass it off. But if they want to make more, I’m ready.”

We’ll next see Evans as Captain America when Avengers: Infinity War opens May 4th, 2018.
