We’ve had tons of names running through the rumor mill for the last couple months as to who would be playing Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Now we can say that James Gunn has chosen his lead and the speculation can finally end.
Deadline is reporting that Chris Pratt will be playing Star-Lord, AKA Peter Quill. He’s the half human, half alien leader of the team that also includes Drax The Destroyer, Groot – The Talking Tree, and Rocket Raccoon… the… raccoon.
With Gunn at the helm, you know that the movie is probably going to be the funniest of the Marvel films so far, so it makes total sense to cast someone like Pratt who has not only done films like Zero Dark Thirty, but is also a stand out on NBC’s Parks and Recreations.
Other than the rumors of Jim Carrey as a possible Rocket Raccoon, there’s no real word on other casting. You can expect that all to change very soon.
Guardians of the Galaxy will be released in 3D on August 1, 2014.
