Cobie Smulders: Avengers Cast Member – The Final Negotiations

This is just a short update and we’re hoping to have something final for you later in the day, but THR is reporting that Cobie Smulders, best known for her role as Robin in ‘How I Met You’re Mother’, has passed the audition and is now in final negotiations to join the cast of the Joss Whedon directed Avenger’s comic book adaptation for Marvel.

What we do know is that she’ll be an Agent of SHIELD. It is probably going to be Maria Hill, because she doesn’t really make sense as Sharon Carter. There’s a lot of people out there who are acting like someone just peed in their Wheaties because they all wanted Morena Baccarin to take the role of Hill, but, and I say this in the nicest way possible… get over yourselves.

Fact of the matter is, Baccarin is probably going to be in the movie anyways, as Wasp. Just because she has short hair on ‘V’, doesn’t mean she’d be a great Maria Hill. Smulders can bring a lot of attitude and toughness to the part. Plus, she’s freakin hot.

Also starring in the film are: Scarlett Johansson (as the Black Widow), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor).
