‘Cowboy Bebop’ Creator Releases ‘Blade Runner 2049’ Anime Prequel

There’s a new prequel short out for Denis Villeneuve‘s Blade Runner 2049 and I think this one is going to get people more excited than the ones that had come before. The animated short, brought to us by the creator of Cowboy Bebop, Shinichiro Watanabe, is technically only available in the US on Crunchyroll right, now, but people have begun posting it on Youtube (see video below).

This short is called Blade Runner: Black Out 2022, and while it might be the final short released, it should be the first if you want to watch the in chronological order (followed by 2036: Nexus Dawn and 2048: Nowhere to Run.

To avoid spoiling anything here, I’m going to let you watch this for yourself. Also, it’s beautiful and if you don’t take the time to watch it, you are just losing out on wonderful visual experience.

Blade Runner 2049 opens on October 6th.
