CW To Debut The Flash In Stand-Alone Pilot Instead Of On Arrow

A while back, we reported that The CW was planning on introducing Barry Allen in episodes 8 and 9 of this season’s Arrow, followed by a full unveil of him as The Flash in episode 20. Now, Deadline is reporting that there’s been a change in plans. He’ll still be in the first two episodes of Arrow as Barry Allen as they’ve already been filmed, but his first appearance as The Flash will be in his very own stand-alone pilot.

His pilot is set to be produced by the team who was already bringing him to Arrow, Co-Creators: Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg. However, the pilot will be written by Geoff Johns.

According to Deadline, the change was made because execs at The CW were so happy with the intro in episodes 8 and 9, that they felt the character could hold his own with a stand-alone pilot.

On Arrow, Barry Allen is a Central City assistant police forensics investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fanboy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante.
