CW’s Batwoman is Ruby Rose

When it was announced that CW was looking to cast the character of Cassandra Kane, aka Batwoman for both this year’s CW crossover event and a possible spin-off, fans were both excited and nervous. While the character has become a fan favorite in comic books, the fact that she is one of the first openly lesbian heroes in the DC universe spurred Warner Bros to state that they were looking for an actress who could not only tackle the role on-screen but shared similar preferences off-screen. This led to the standard internet being the internet arguing. Well, today we have the CW’s casting decision and it is sure to spur on some equally decisive comments.

Ruby Rose can be seen in films like John Wick 2 and the upcoming Jason Statham vs a Shark film, The Meg. Along with being an actress, she is also a gender-fluid lesbian and an outspoken advocate for LGBT rights. She definitely looks the part of Cassandra Kane. She also fits the characteristics that Warner Bros said they wanted in a star. The question is whether or not she can carry a show. We’ll have our first look she joins up with The Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and The Legends of Tomorrow in the upcoming CW crossover event later this year.

Synopsis:
Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope. Based on the characters from DC.
