Variety reports that the CW has axed The Graysons prior to its development and its announcement just a month ago.
The Graysons had plans for a TV show starring Dick Grayson and his life pre-Robin days. But just recently, Warner Bros. Pictures Group had decided to “rethink its DC Comics strategy,” and shy away from the Grayson/Robin property.
In a statement released by Warner Bros.:
“The studio has opted not to go forward with the development of ‘The Graysons’ at this time as the concept doesn’t fit the current strategy for the Batman franchise….Warner Bros. Television is currently working on several replacement options for the CW.”
Certainly recent news of DC Comics canceling the long running Robin comic books series has some correlation to the cancellation of CW’s “The Graysons.” Either that or insiders and perhaps even Christopher Nolan felt uncomfortable with the idea of “The Graysons” as it may have negatively hurt the Batman movie franchise which at the moment is Warner Bros.’ golden goose.
