A bittersweet day for fans of the Netflix Marvel universe. THR broke the news that Jon Bernthal is officially back as Frank Castle/ The Punisher. This is something that fans have been waiting and hoping to hear for months. However, when the Feige giveth, the Feige taketh away. It’s now looking all but certain that neither Elden Henson nor Deborah Ann Woll will be back as Foggy Nelson or Karen Page.
We’re hoping this just means that Foggy and Karen aren’t part of the story arc for this mini-series. Recasting them after bringing everyone else back will cause rebellion among the fans.
There’s also a very good chance that Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones will feature prominently into the story line for the new Disney+ show. Hopes are much lower however when it comes to Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Cage’s Mike Colter has been plenty busy between his Paramount +series Evil and his budding new film franchise that started with Plane and is set to go into production on chapter 2 – Ship. It’s starting to feel like he might be working on a seriously gritty reboot of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
As for Finn Jones and Iron Fist… It’s just not a character that anyone has been asking to see again, so we’d be shocked to see Marvel put any resources behind the character from their biggest failure on Netflix.
Bernthal joins a cast that already includes Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Margarita Levieva, Sandrine Holt, Michael Gandolfini, and Nikki James.
