The recent Duck Tales reboot, starring David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck has slowly been re-introducing all of the characters from the 90s Disney Afternoon animation block over the last few years, including Darkwing Duck. Now it looks like the terror that flaps in the night is about to spread his wings for a whole new series, backed by some guys with serious superhero cred.
Variety is reporting that Seth Rogen and Evan Peters, who have already helped adapt The Preacher and The Boys, and are getting ready to launch their Amazon Prime animated adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s Invincible, are heading over to Disney+ to reboot Darkwing Duck.
Sadly, there is literally no more information available so far. We don’t know if this show will be within the Ducktales universe, or something completely different. We don’t even know if it will be CGI or 2D animation. As soon as we find out, we’ll have the news for you here. We can only hope that they bring back Jim Cummings, the voice actor who played Darkwing in both the 90s series and the recent rebooted version.
Here’s the 2017 re-introduction of Darkwing Duck into the Duck Tales universe:
