Rob Liefeld, the co-creator of the merc-with-a-mouth twittered last week saying that he had spoken with “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” producers who told him that there were “definite plans to spin off Deadpool if the box office works.”
What this loosely translations into is that a Deadpool spin-off is a “go” as long as “Wolverine” makes the dough — because everything is possible when someone is making money.
Sarcasm aside however, a spin-off would make sense particularly since it’s widely known that there were several re-shoots in “Wolverine” to pad more screen time for Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson. Which Liefeld mentioned, “was chosen specifically with the idea that he would carry [a possible] solo film.”
