Despite a passionate online plea from fans to make Danny DeVito the voice of Pikachu in the upcoming live action ‘Detective Pikachu’ movie, it looks like the studio is looking for a little more name power.
The film, which is based off the Japanese video game Great Detective Pikachu video game, is being helmed by Goosebumps director Rob Letterman and is currently in search of the actor who can bring Pikachu’s voice to life. Though no meetings have taken place, it is now being reported that Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson are all being considered as strong possibilities for the part. They plan to give Pikachu a gruff, rougher sounding human voice, to match the feel of a detective story. I guess any of these guys could do it, but I’d still rather see (or hear) Danny Devito take it on.
