There had been rumors going around for a while that the sixth film in the Die Hard franchise would be called: Die Hard: Year One and it would only feature a few moments of the present time John McClane, Bruce Willis. That rumor has now been shot down from the film’s producer, Lorenzo diBonaventura.
Along with announcing that the film would be called ‘McClane’, he went on to say that the film would be moving back and forth between two relevant stories. In the flashbacks, we’ll be seeing John McClane as a rookie police officer, and in the present, we’ll be seeing the now 60-year-old Willis tackling a storyline that probably has some sort of callback to the flashbacks.
Here’s what Lorenzo diBonaventura had to say about how the film would be set up and how big Bruce Willis features into the story.
“We want you to get invested in John McClane more than ever before. I don’t know how you do Die Hard without Bruce – the idea that he’s not very significant in this movie is not accurate at all. We are gonna explore John McClane in his twenties. But just as prominent is the 60-year-old version.”
