It was a battle of the sequels this week as “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” and “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” battled it out for box office supremacy. So who won? Well, technically it was a tie, but it took 200 more movie screens to keep Transformers in the race, so we’ll give this weekend’s crown to Ice Age.
Coming in at 3rd was the new movie, “Public Enemies” starring the Johnny Depp in the memorable role of Flava Flave. Rounding out the top five are the Betty White sex comedy, “The Proposal” and Zack Galifinaki’s “The Hangover.”
Also of note, Pixar’s “Up” is still holding strong at #6 with over $6.5 million this week and this is the first time since it launched 9 weeks ago that “Star Trek” has dipped below the top ten.
1 Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs $42,500,000
2 Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen $42,500,000
3 Public Enemies $26,172,000
4 The Proposal $12,779,000
