Over the weekend, some rumors started to surface that Melissa McCarthy is in talks to take on the role of Ursula The Sea Witch in Disney’s Live Action remake of The Little Mermaid. While we still don’t know if that will pan out or if the rumors are even true, we do have two more casting announcements for the film today.
It’s now being reported that The Room/ Predator actor Jacob Tremblay is up for the voice role of Flounder, Ariel’s best pal, while Crazy Rich Asians/ Ocean’s 8 actress Awkwafina will be voicing Scuttle the Seagull. Awkwafina is having a break-out year with multiple roles set to hit the screen in 2019 in Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Jumanji: The Next Level, The Angry Birds movie 2, and The Spongebob movie: It’s a Wonderful Sponge.
While no official announcements have been made, it’s been widely rumored that Spider-Man: Far From Home is all but set to play the role of Ariel in the film and that Lin-Manuel Miranda is working on some new music alongside the original film’s soundtrack composer Alan Menken.
