AS another weekend draws to a close it’s time to take a look at who won the weekly box office race. This week the hands down winner was District 9, the new Alien movie presented by none other than Peter Jackson. The film womped G.I. Joe who is in its second week by $15 million dollars. The movie has received near universal kudos and is currently the highest rated film of the year on both Rotten Tomatoes and Box Office Mojo.
Coming in at 3 and 4 are the Time Traveler’s Wife and Julie & Julia at $19.2 and $12.4 million respectively. Closing out the top five is Richard Gere’s new favorite film, G-Force. Surprisingly, Jeremy Piven’s new film, “The Goods” seemed to suffer its own form of mercury poison with a sickly debut at #6.
