Catherine Hardwicke Walked into the Twilight project with a lot of credibility from her film Thirteen. However, one thing led to another and while Twilight was a smashing success, the studio felt it was best to move on without her. This on its own is not that big a deal, but with the movie’s girl power vibe, the studio took what many people consider to be a major political misstep in hiring a man to direct the second film. After all, it isn’t about getting the best person for the job. Is it?
Seeing the error of their ways, producers are now in talks with a “select group of directors” to help the third installment of the the saga: Eclipse. According to Entertainment Weekly, Drew Barrymore is currently at the top of that list.
Drew’s directorial debut, Whip it, is not out in theaters yet.
