Dune 2 is one of the many films that was slated to present something at this year’s Comic-Con, but the panel was canceled due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Now, Variety is reporting that the film, along with several others may be pushed back to 2024. Among the films listed for possible delay are The Color Purple, and Aquaman 2. The latter of which just went through some reshoots last week, though it has been reported that they went extremely well and actually finished up in just four days instead of the five they had scheduled.

The issue isn’t so much about being able to finish making these films, it’s about being able to promote them. Star power is going to be needed to spread the word about the movies and get fans into the seats. With the strike not looking like it has an end in site, it could make sense for studios to continue pushing back some new releases out of fear that box office numbers could suffer without the casts talking about them to the media and on their various socials.
