‘Dune’ New Images And News On Why The Story Is Split Into Two Films

Yesterday, we brought you the first official pic of Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides in the upcoming Dune remake from Bladerunner 2049 director, Denis Villeneuve. Now, Vanity Fair has posted even more photos fro the upcoming film along with some interesting quotes from the cast and crew.

One of the biggest questions that people have had about the Dune remake is about why it is being split across two films. It is a strategy that has worked well for movies like the recent Stephen King’s It remake, but it has also failed horribly with the adaptation of The Hobbit. Here’s what the director had to say on the subject:

“I would not agree to make this adaptation of the book with one single movie,” says Villeneuve. “The world is too complex. It’s a world that takes its power in details.”

In fact, the film isn’t just going to be split into two parts. It will also include an HBO Max series, Dune Sisterhood. The show will focus on the Bene Gesserit, a group of female characters from Frank Herbert’s novels. Villeneuve is heavily involved in the spin-off and has already stated that he plans on directing at least some of it.

Dune stars Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica Atreides, Oscar Issac as Duke Leto Atreides, Stephen Mckinley Henderson as Thufir Hawat, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, Zendaya as Chani, Stellan Skarsgard as Baron Vladimir, Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Dr. Liet Kynes, Dave Bautista as Glossu Rabban, Charlotte Rampling as Bene Gesserit, and Javier Bardem as Stilgar.
