While most fans felt like the first few films in the DC film universe were too dark, they’d most likely welcome a bit more of that in Guillermo Del Toro’s Justice League Dark, a film that will bring together John Constantine, The Swamp Thing, Zatanna, and a few others.
While I was pretty sad to hear that Del Toro would not be directing the project himself, Variety has just announced today that Doug Liman will be taking over the reins. If you aren’t familiar with the name, you’ll recognize his work from his directing gigs on The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow.
There’s been no other news on the film in regards to casting or anything like that, but it was also announced today that the film has undergone a slight name change so people don’t confuse it with the “real” Justice League. When the film hits theaters, it will be under the title: Justice League Dark Universe. I wonder if this means it will be out of the DCU continuity?
On a funny side note, I was really sad when I first read this news. I had confused Doug Liman and Doug Ellin in my head and couldn’t figure out why the guy who created Entourage would be trusted with this movie.
