After a longer than expected wait (Thanks COVID), the movie train is back on track. Black Widow and Shang-Chi are heading to theaters over the next few months and now we’ve got our first teaser trailer for what could be the biggest gamble of the MCU since James Gunn was handed a c-level Marvel property named The Guardians of The Galaxy, The Eternals. GOTG turned out to be one of the most successful franchises within the MCU, it’s going to be interesting to see if Eternals can do the same.
The trailer, while beautifully shot, is going to feel like a big departure for a lot of MCU fans. Directed by recent Oscar Winner Chloé Zhao, the film is tackling gods in a far more ethereal manner than we’ve seen in the past (Asgardians/ Thor/ Odin…). Even down to the music choice in the trailer, it feels like we are being set up for something that is more character-driven and less action-driven than previous Marvel films. With that said, this is just the teaser trailer, and we are excited to see more. Interestingly, they’ve gone so far outside of the typical Marvel feel that if you didn’t get the tag at the end with them talking about the current status quo of the Avengers, you wouldn’t even guess this was an MCU film.
With a tremendous director and a killer cast, this film has a lot going for it from jump. The team includes Richard Madden as Ikaris, Gemma Chan Sersi, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayak as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Barry Keoghan as Druig, and Angelina Jolie as Thena. Additionally Kit Harrington is set to appear as Dane Whitman, aka The Black Knight.
“Throughout the years we have never interfered, until now.” Watch the brand new teaser trailer for Marvel Studios’ “Eternals” and experience it in theaters this November.
