Evan Daugherty Has the Power, To Pen the Long-Awaited “He-Man” Adaptation

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the long-awaited “He-Man” film adaptation — titled “Grayskull” — has finally found a writer to pen the newest screenplay for Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures.

Evan Daugherty was hired by Warner and Co. recently to helm the potential franchise epic that’d been stuck in development hell for quite some time. Daugherty is a newcomer to the arts and has been hired to work off a previous draft written by “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li” screenwriter Justin Marks.

Warner Bros envisions “Grayskull” to be a darker and gritter take than the original 80s cartoon. In fact, Warner Bros hopes to reinvent the characters mimicking the success of “Batman Begins” in order to remove some of the mythos’ more campier elements.

“[reimagining] Adam as a soldier who sets off to find his destiny, happening upon the magical world of Eternia. There, Skeletor has raised a technological army and is bent on eradicating magic.”

Will Daugherty success? That remains to be seen. But for now at least, there is progress and with “Kung Fu Panda” director John Stevenson taking the helm, it’s safe to say that whatever we end up with will most likely surpass Dolph Lundgren’s take in the last big screen “He-Man” attempt (failed).
