It was rumored last year that Pixar was dipping into the well for a “Monsters Inc.” sequel, but rumor no more! Pixar has now set a November 16, 2010 release date for “Monsters Inc. 2.”
Pete Doctor who directed the original will set his sights on Monstropolis once again. Currently unknown whether John Goodman and Billy Crystal would reprise their roles as monsters Sully and Mike Wazowski. There’s also no word regarding the storyline.
Pixar who is known primarily for their original stories may have some fans wondering if their creative talent is running on exhaust. “Monsters Inc. 2” would mark the third film to get a sequel alongside “Toy Story” and “Cars,” which really isn’t a bad thing as long as greater emphasis is still placed on the overall story.
Aside from a couple of questionable films (Wall-E, UP *snooze fest*), Pixar hasn’t really let me down. Although “Monsters Inc.” was never my favorite, I look forward to the sequel and returning to Monstropolis. Maybe we’ll even get to see a teenage Boo?!
