‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot News, And Bruce Willis As The Voice Of Thing?

News for the Twentieth Century Fox “Fantastic Four” reboot has been coming in strong this morning with the announcement of three directors currently in the running as well as Fox perusing Bruce Willis to possibly voice the new entirely CG Thing.

CBM is reporting that Twentieth Century Fox isn’t far from finding someone to helm the film with Joe Carnahan (Smokin’ Aces, A-Team), David Yates (Harry Potter) and James Mcteigue (V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin) in the current running.

It’s an interesting list, as all directors are very different but could bring something much warranted to the “Fantastic Four” reboot and namely name it not suck.

Additionally it’s reported that the reboot for Marvel’s first superhero family will be more dark and dramatic and introduce a slew of new character based on the comic. Two characters from the previous franchise, Dr. Doom and the Silver Surfer, will also make appearances although it’s unsure to what context or amount.

In regards to Willis voicing the Thing, Fox would also hope for Willis to play Ben Grimes during the open credits before his cosmic transformation. Similar to what Marvel Studio is doing, Fox is trying to follow suit by going all out with big names, and Willis would be that big star. While Michael Chiklis was a pretty decent Ben/Thing, I think Willis would be even more perfect for the role and let’s face it, he’s not exactly a stranger to comic book films (Red, Sin City, Surrogates, Unbreakable). Why not add a Marvel title to his resume!?

If Fox gets their wish with Willis, look forward to them trying to also bring in either Adrien Brody or Jonathan Rhys Meyers to play Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Alice Eve to play Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Kevin Pennington to play Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Stephen Moyer as Doctor Doom.

While the “Fantastic Four” reboot is still in early development, if everything hums along perfectly, expect filming to begin next spring and in 3D. The “Fantastic Four” reboot would have a tentative release date of summer 2012.
