First ‘Passengers’ Trailer Starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt

Sony has just released the first trailer for their big Christmas release, and if they can’t score a hit with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. Together. In space, then they don’t deserve to be a studio anymore.

The basic rundown on this film is is that there’s 5,000 people in a fancy space cruiser, heading for a colony that takes 120 years to reach. Unfortunately, the hibernation pods for both Pratt and Lawrence, both just happened to open 90 years too early. There’s a lot more to it, but I won’t tell you. I don’t have to, the trailer seems like it gives the vast majority of the film away.

One thing I will say is that the film isn’t going to give the main cast a lot of room to hide. It seems like the majority of the film is just the two of them, though there will be appearances from Michael Sheen, Laurence Fishburne, and Aurora Perrineau in the film as well.

On a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions. As Jim (Chris Pratt) and Aurora (Jennifer Lawrence) face living the rest of their lives on board, with every luxury they could ever ask for, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… until they discover the ship is in grave danger. With the lives of 5000 sleeping passengers at stake, only Jim and Aurora can save them all.
