It’s always a little nerve-wracking to see a childhood favorite getting a modern reboot. While there have been some good successes like Netflix’s Voltron Legendary Defender, there’s also more than enough examples like the recent reboot of Reboot. The good news about a Rocky and Bullwinkle reboot is that they’ve already done it so poorly with their live action film that the producers have hopefully learned some lessons for the new Amazon Prime animated series.
The first clip for the show came out and it’s decent. You can’t say that it’s going to be as good as the original (at least not yet), but you can definitely say it’s going to be better than the movie. For the most part, even the voices are on target, with the exception of Rocky the Squirrel. There’s no denying that Tara Strong is a hell of a voice actor, it’s just really hard hearing someone other than the recently deceased June Foray in the role. Still, if the job has to go to someone, there are few V/O actors in the industry more deserving than her.
Dreamworks’ Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle lands on Amazon Prime this Friday.
The world-famous talking moose and flying squirrel are back in The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, a comedy about two goofball friends who end up in harrowing situations but end up saving the day time and again. As their silly ambitions dovetail with Fearless Leader’s sinister plans to take over the world, they are set on a collision course with his notorious super spies Boris and Natasha.
