I’m a bit torn about the Frankenweenie film from Disney and Tim Burton. In a lot of ways, I think of it in the same way as I do any of the Dr. Suess movie adaptations. They are all based on short stories. To make them into big films, you have to add so much to the story, that you have to start wondering if it is really Frankenweenie or a film based on Frankenweenie? Still, it is Tim Burton and stop motion, so I will be there when it opens on October 5th.
This first clip features Mr. Ryzkruski (Martin Landau), the teacher who inspired Victor to learn about electricity.
Official Synopsis:
From creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare BeforeChristmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.
