Even if you don’t know Genndy Tartakovsky by name, there’s a good chance that he shaped a large part of your childhood if you grew up in the 90s. Tartakovsky not only created shows like Samurai Jack and Dexter’s Laboratory, but he also animated the original Star Wars: The Clone Wars mini-series for Cartoon Network, created the woefully underappreciated Symbionic Titan, and he produced both The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and The Powerpuff Girls. Now, the animator is back at Adult Swim for his latest series, Primal.
Here’s how THR is describing the new series:
Primal centers on “a caveman at the dawn of evolution and a dinosaur on the brink of extinction” who form an unlikely bond that will be their only hope to survive a deadly and violent prehistoric, primordial world.
That’s currently all we know about the show. From the trailer, it looks like it will be aimed at older audiences with some graphic violence. It also has a vibe very similar to Samurai Jack, so don’t be surprised if the show is light on dialogue.
Primal should debut sometime this fall on Adult Swim as a half-hour long series.
