The first trailer is out for Spider-Man: Far From Home and it looks great, but it raises a lot of questions. We still have a feeling that Amy Pascal is lying about the film’s time-frame and that it actually happens within Soulworld, right after the Snappening. For now, let’s just talk about how great this looks.
Peter Parker is back from the dust and he’s better than ever. While he might want to leave the Spider behind and enjoy his class trip to Europe, he can’t avoid the fact that with great power comes great responsibility.
The biggest mystery/ reveal of the trailer is Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio. We know that he’ll be entering the film as a good guy, working alongside Nick Fury. We just expect that it’s all a ruse and he’s actually the one creating the Elementals that he and Spidey fight in the trailer. We’ll be shocked and impressed if this isn’t the way they decide to go, but it’s hard to imagine them moving a major character like Mysterio so far from comic book Canon.
For us, the trailer excels in the same place where Homecoming did. Tom Holland is great in the costume, but he’s also excellent as good ole’ Peter Parker. The last scene of the trailer pretty much sums it up perfectly.
Spider-Man: Far From Home opens July 5, 2019 and stars Tom Holland, Samuel L Jackson, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei, Cobie Smulders, Angourie Rice, Martin Starr, JB Smoove, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
