The Addams’ Family is one of the rare properties that was able to successfully translate across multiple generations with different casts between the original TV series and the films from the 1990’s. Now the Addams’ are back and returning to their cartoon roots (they first appeared in the 1930’s as a New Yorker comic strip) with a new animated film that could introduce the characters to a whole new era of fans.
This time around, the family is getting a star-studded voice cast featuring Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron are Gomez and Morticia, Chloe Grace Moretz as Wednesday, Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) as Pugsley, Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester, Bette Midler as Grandmama, and Allison Janney as the family’s arch nemesis Margaux Needler.
If you are wondering what is up with the ultra-stylized animation style, the character design in the new film is actually based on the original New Yorker comic strips as you can see below.
Get ready to snap your fingers! The Addams Family is back on the big screen in the first animated comedy about the kookiest family on the block. Funny, outlandish, and completely iconic, the Addams Family redefines what it means to be a good neighbor.
The Addams Family arrives just in time for Halloween with an October 11th release.
