Everything about this sounds wrong, but it looks like Fred Durst’s modern take on what essentially looks to be Stephen King’s Misery could be kind of a fun show. After all, who doesn’t want to see John Travolta act out as what the prototypical movie-fan-gone-bad.

The only thing that kind of rubs me the wrong way is that watching Travolta’s performance in the trailer feels over the top to the point of being cartoonish. Then again, that could be exactly what this movie needs. After all, whoever thought they’d be talking about a horror movie that starred the guy from Saturday Night Fever, Grease, and Pulp Fiction, and produced by the guy from Limp Bizkit.

Starring alongside Travolta are Devon Sawa and Ana Golja. The Fanatic hits theaters August 30, 2019
