Dave Bautista is a star on the rise, along with his roles in the Guardians of The Galaxy franchise and Bladerunner 2049, he’s set to appear in the reboot of Suicide Squad from GOTG director James Gunn and Dune from Denis Villeneuve. Now he’s taking the big leap into his first buddy comedy alongside
Kumail Nanjiani in Stuber. The film tells the story of an LAPD officer in the middle of a hunt for a killer and the Uber driver he forces to help him along the way.
I’m not sure we are looking at the comedy of the year, but the trailer looks like it’s being set up as a solid, funny mid-summer popcorn muncher. Stuber hits theaters on July 12 and also stars Karen Gillan, Natalie Morales, Iko Uwais, and Betty Gilpin
When a mild-mannered Uber driver named Stu (Kumail Nanjiani) picks up a passenger (Dave Bautista) who turns out to be a cop hot on the trail of a brutal killer, he’s thrust into a harrowing ordeal where he desperately tries to hold onto his wits, his life and his five-star rating. Directed by Michael Dowse, this action-comedy from 20th Century Fox also stars Iko Uwais, Natalie Morales, Betty Gilpin, Jimmy Tatro, Mira Sorvino and Karen Gillan.
