It’s now official. Fox has canceled Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse,” starring Eliza Dushku.
The news “Dollhouse” fans have been dreading it to hear has now come true according to a breaking news report by The Hollywood Reporter.
Despite a DVR-induced ratings bump, the show’s overall poor ratings and mixed reactions just wasn’t enough to sustain Joss’ vision. As a result, the series will be sent to the farm up state after the airing of the 13th episode.
For those in denial, the show’s impending cancellation was obvious. It wasn’t of if, but when. Particularly since Fox had pulled the troubled series from November sweeps and a previously announced “Dollhouse” doubleheader set to air throughout December may not even occur. Episodes that according to THR, features the debut of “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” star Summer Glau.
While it’s easy to fault Fox for the premature cancellation of “Dollhouse,” in all honesty, Fox really did try this time and the low ratings and lack of general interest speaks for themselves. It’s not a knock on Whedon and his talent or the cast, but it is what it is. Hopefully with two episodes left to be film, Whedon will be able to wrap up the series and give us, the fans, the closure and send off we and “dollhouse” deserves.
