Good news everybody! It took awhile, but Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Oeming’s superhero cop noir has been picked up by the FX network.

According to a tweet by Bendis over the weekend, the FX Network has greenlite and ordered a pilot for the television adaptation of the comic book series. In addition, news of the talent behind the show is mighty impressive as they will consist of writers and directors that have worked on other shows such as “The Walking Dead,” “The Shield,” “Justified” and “Sons of Anarchy.”

Originally launched in 2000 at Image Comics and now being published under Marvel’s ICON imprint, “Powers” is set in a world where superpowers are common and illegal. The story follows two homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, who deal with cases involving “powers.”

Co-creator Brian Michael Bendis tweeted about this news on this Twitter feed most recently, “I woke up to an insane amount of good will and nice messages. Thank you all. Powers fans, you really made this happen. New issue Wednesday!”
