FX’s ‘Terriers’ Officially Cancelled

We all somehow knew it was coming due to the ratings, but as of today officially, Shawn Ryan’s “Terriers” has been canceled by FX.

The show — which followed the exploits of two semipro detectives — received a decent send off with the season finale reaching 800,000 viewers. Despite the increase it was still well below the bar for original programming on FX and had only pulled in an average of 700,000 viewers for the show’s 13-episode run.

According to THR, it was a tough decision for both FX and network president John Landgraf who both respect and had a great working relationship with Ryan since he was the showrunner for “The Shield.”

In response to the news, executive producer Shawn Ryan tweeted, “Thanks for all the condolences, #Terriers fans. Ultimately, we couldn’t get enough people to watch. Don’t blame FX. They’re still 1st class.”

But don’t count Ryan down and out yet, beginning next year he will have a new Fox police drama in “The Chicago Code,” which will premier February 7th.
