“Game of Thrones” director Alan Taylor has been hired by Marvel Studios to helm “Thor 2,” officially replacing Patty Jenkins who had recently been fired.
Taylor is an accomplished TV director with plenty of experience whose recent credits include TV series such as “Boardwalk Empire,” “The Sopranos,” “Mad Men” and “Nurse Jackie.”
The sequel brings back Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder, from a script by “Thor” co-writer Don Payne. Marvel is also expected to bring in new writers for the sequel that includes John Collee (Happy Feet and Master and Commander: Far Side of the World), Robert Rodat (Falling Skies and wrote Saving Private Ryan), and Roger Avary, who co-wrote Pulp Fiction with Quentin Tarantino.
There’s no doubt that Taylor will be a fantastic director especially with his recent experience working on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”
With the new hiring, “Thor 2” is scheduled to meet its November 15, 2013 release date.
