Gary Ross In Discussion To Direct ‘The Hunger Games’ Adaptation

Gary Ross (Pleasentville, Seabiscuit) is currently in talks to helm Lionsgate’s new sci-fi film based on a young-adult sci-fi novel called “The Hunger Games” that’s set in a futuristic post-apocalyptic North America. It would be the first part of a three part trilogy.

The original novel written by Suzanne Collins was recognized as USA Today and New York Times’ best sellers. It has also been named one of Publishers Weekly’s “Best Books of the Year” in 2008. The screenplay will adapted by Billy Ray.

“The Hunger Games” follows the story of sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world where people are pitted against each one another in a game of survival and forced to kill until only one remains.
