George Romero pretty much created the Zombie Genre. You’d figure that he would be one of The Walking Dead’s biggest supporters. It turns out, that isn’t the case. Check out what he said to the U.K. newspaper the Big Issue, about the show.
On the subject of directing an episode of the show:
“They asked me to do a couple of episodes of ‘The Walking Dead,’ but I didn’t want to be a part of it.”
On what is his problem with the show:
“Basically it’s just a soap opera with a zombie occasionally. I always used the zombie as a character for satire or a political criticism, and I find that missing in what’s happening now.”
