Variety is reporting that Chuck has finally been renewed for the fall season on NBC, but it will be coming back with some major cuts to the budget.
NBC and Warner Bros. TV struck a 13-episode third-season renewal deal on Sunday for the action-comedy that has a modest but passionate fanbase.
Like virtually every other primetime skein on the Big Four nets, “Chuck” will return next season with a smaller production budget. The renewal haggling between NBC and Warner Bros. TV over the past few weeks has centered entirely on cost-cutting issues, insiders said.
what will this mean for the show? Maybe they’ll trade in the Buy More for a Dollar General? Perhaps The big explosions will be swapped out for cheesy Pyro? Maybe the secret base will be moved to a van. The possibilities are limitless… Too bad we can’t say the same for the budget.
