Everyone thought that this was the last season for Smallville. Lex and Lana were gone. Clark was spending all his time in the city. Hell, they even brought in Doomsday. Well, in TV, ratings are king and ratings are saying that Smallville is just too popular to dump.
Rumors are that the deal involves giving Tom Welling more money than he could ever spend. After all, what’s a Superman show without Superman.
This does bring out another big question. How long can they keep this going before Clark actually takes the mantle of Superman? Well, in February, we’ll see a three episode story about how Clark deals with having two identities… that’s a nice start. The next question is the suit.. which we may or may not ever see depending on how the movie licensing people are feeling the day they get asked.
Here’s the official press release from The CW for Smallville:
The aftermath of Doomsday’s (Sam Witwer) attack on Chloe (Tom Welling) and Jimmy’s (Aaron Ashmore) wedding leaves Clark (Tom Welling) in shock, but before he can search for the kidnapped Chloe, The Persuader (guest star Fraser Aithceson) appears and attacks him. Rokk (guest star Ryan Kennedy), Imra (guest star Alexz Johnson) and Garth (guest star Calum Worthy), also known as The Legion, step in from the future to help vanquish the Persuader and the group realizes Brainiac has taken over Chloe once again. Meanwhile, up at the Fortress, Chloe, as Brainiac, informs Davis he is Doomsday and was created to kill “the other Kryptonian” and destroy the world.
