There’s been buzz around who would be taking on the all female mantles of Paul Feig’s new Ghostbusters film. For weeks, there’s been talk of Melissa McCarthy being up for a role. Well, according to THR, she’s been officially cast in the film along with Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon.
Three of the film’s leads are either current or recent players on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. This may just be a coincidence, but it will also probably help fans feel the emotional connection to the original series which featured SNL Alum Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray.
The film is set to shoot in New York City this summer.
The new series is set for a two-episode premiere, June 4 on Disney+.
