‘Gotham’ Producers Working On ‘Metropolis’

Fox’s Gotham has had it’s ups and downs, but it’s managed to create enough of an audience that it’s held on into its third season. Now, the show’s producers are thinking that they can do for the Superman’s earlier years what they think they’ve done for the early years of Batman and Jim Gordon.

Now, before you get in a huff and say, “Didn’t they already do that with Smallville?” The answer is no. Only the last couple of seasons for Smallville took place in Metropolis, and the story was entirely centered around Clark. In Metropolis, the show will focus on the time before he comes to the city and it will focus on the lives of Lex Luthor and Lois Lane. Here’s the logline:

Set in the wondrous and awe-inspiring City of Tomorrow before the arrival of Superman, Metropolis follows Lois Lane and Lex Luthor as they investigate the world of fringe science and expose the city’s dark and bizarre secrets.

The first season will run for thirteen episodes on Warner Bros’ upcoming Streaming Network along side animated offering like Harley Quinn and Young Justice: Outsiders. This definitely begs the question as to whether we need the show or yet another streaming network to add to Netflix, hulu, crackle, Disney’s upcoming Streaming, CBS, Amazon Prime, and the traditional cable bills that many people get as part of their internet package.
