G4 recently had a chance to speak with comic book writer Grant Morrison about the status of his upcoming “We3” adaptation.
Based on Image’s acclaimed comics series he created with artist Frank Quitely, Morrison who also penned the screenplay says it is now complete and was “very well received.” In terms of story, Morrison adds that he believes the screenplay will be better than the comic.
According to the interview with G4’s Blair Butler, according to Morrison, the story will not only be stronger, but it will also be a lot more sadder.
John Stevenson, the lead director of “Kung Fu Panda” is set to direct the R-rated film, and aims to be very faithful to the original source material.
You can watch the interview below:
We3 written by Grant Morrison is an action-packed, hyper-violent and heartbreaking story focusing on three test animals – a dog, a cat and a rabbit – who are infused into prototype combat suits equipped with various weaponry. Thanks to chips in their skulls, they’re allowed to speak. This trio breaks free and We3 tells of their perilous return home. The series was released in 2004.
